The Lady Panthers won the tip off and junior Dani Corbitt opened up the scoring once again with a left side lay-up good for two. Central Christian College of the Bible had one solid scorer, #32 Dowdy, who could drive and score and or hit the outside three pointer, which resulted in a total of 34 points. Freshman
Sarah Corbitt brought her “A” Game as she was our defensive assassin, contributing 10 steals resulting in a triple-double with 10 rebounds and 29 points. Freshman Dani Carney played with absolute fire and great court awareness, aiding in a number of assists to
Lindsay Sydness for an easy two points. Carney contributed 10 points and two steels, while Sydness shot 77% from the field for a total of 19 points. With just 4:45 left in the first half, the score read 27-17; at half-time the score was 34-23.
In the second half the Lady Panthers scored 48 points, which happened to be the equivalent of the Lady Saints total score. Principa’s defensive intensity and discipline on offense spurred their momentum once again as they found and kept their rhythm on both ends for the remainder of the game. This was capsulated by a Dani Corbitt steal for a pass down court to her teammate and sister Sarah Corbitt for the lay-up, which happened on more than one occasion. Principia moved the ball extremely well to find better shots for their teammates opening it up for Freshmen
Jocelyn Shoemake and
Shannon Briggs to both complete beautiful two-pointers in the second half. Junior Emily Wheeler was our sniper from the three-point arc hitting four three-pointers. Point-Guard Wheeler also added one score from the inside for a total of 14 points, grabbed two steals and two blocks. The Lady Panther’s hit a total of nine 3-pointers, contributed with four from Emily Wheeler, three from Sarah Corbitt and two from Dani Carney.
