Principia won the tip off and scored by a pass from
Sarah Corbitt to Dani Corbitt for two to of the first points of the night. Blackburn answered back with two points followed by a baseline jumper by Principia's Emily Wheeler. Nearly five minutes into the first half the score was 6-7, with Blackburn up by one. In the first five possessions the Lady Panthers were consistently scoring every other possession answering nicely to Blackburn's scores. In the first 10 minutes of the game Sarah Corbitt scored a lay-up from a down court pass given by point guard Emily Wheeler, leaving the score at 12-14. Freshman Dani Carney sunk a 3-pointer late in the first half that kept Principia in contention. At the half Principia was down 8 points, 24-32. Blackburn had significantly more size than Principia, especially with their inside game.
Sophomore Lindsey Sydness and junior Dani Corbitt played scrappy defense to disrupt the Blackburn's offense on numerous occasions. Freshman
Shannon Briggs was our offensive rebounding giant with 4, and 3 rebounds on the defensive end. With just over 10 minutes left to play in the 2nd half, after a 3 pointer hit by
Sarah Corbitt, Principia was only down by 5 points. After that, Blackburn went on a 15-0 run in the last segment of the game. The final score was Blackburn 58, Principia 38. Sophomore Lindsey Sydness was Principia's highest scorer with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman
