Principia loses to MacMurray; 56-66

Principia played a great defensive first half, yet Principia fell behind within the first seven minutes 10-16. Principia regrouped and refocused to take the lead (29 to 27), with 1:34 left in the first half. Principia found Lindsay Syndess in the paint good for two the next time down the court, but MacMurray then scored twice in a row to end the half at a tie, 31 to 31.
MacMurray carried this momentum into the second half, going on a 10-0 run before Principia scored again. MacMurray's defense fueled their offense which lead to some easy baskets off of transition, extending their lead to 15 points at one point in the second half. After this lead, Principia came within 8 points, but never regained the momentum that they had established earlier in the game. Principia was led by sophomore Lindsay Sydness, who went very strong to the hoop, with 22 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Emily Wheeler had one the best passes the coaches have ever seen in Principia basketball, with a backdoor cut from Sarah Corbitt for a sweet lay-up. Junior Dani Corbitt had a couple stunning pull-up jumpers along with an “and-one” late in the second half. Dani finished with season high of 14 points and 9 rebounds.
