Women's soccer on winning streak

ELSAH, ILL. -- The Panthers maintained their winning streak by beating the Blackburn Beavers 2-0 in their home game match this evening. Out shooting the Beavers 51-0, the Panthers found it difficult to find the back of the net. The Panthers dominated the first half, keeping the ball on the Beaver's defensive third the entire time. However, the Beavers did a great job packing in the defense which made it challenging for the Panthers to score. Hitting the cross bar or goal post at least 5 times, the Panthers just couldn't find the inside netting. As a result, the score remained 0-0 at half.

A minute into the second half, the Panthers finally got a break when Alicia Girbes-Pierce ripped a shot inside the six yard box to put the Panthers up by one.  In the 70th minute of the game, Rachel Publicover buried the ball from inside the box from a pass by Cristina Post. The Panthers dominated the whole second half but were unsuccessful in scoring more than two. There were many opportunities just not enough composure when it came to finishing. The Panthers are still 6-0 in Conference with an overall record of 11-4.

The Panthers play again this Friday at home against Concordia-Moorhead at 6:00 PM.
