Women's soccer still undefeated in conference after beating Eureka 5-1

Elsah, ILL. -- After yesterday's loss to Concordia-Moorhead, the Panthers ended their double header with a win against Eureka 5-1. The Panthers opened the scoring with a beautiful shot by Rachel Publicover taken outside the box into the upper left corner. A few minutes later, Eureka caught the Panther defense off guard resulting in a goal to tie the game. Five minutes later, Carlie Sanderude volleyed the ball past the Eureka keeper for a goal to put the Panthers up 2-1. With two minutes left in the half, Hayley MacWilliams shot the ball like a rocket into the upper left corner to give the Panthers a 3-1 lead at halftime.

The Panthers had difficulty finding their passing rhythm in the first half, however, in the second half, there was much more movement off the ball. The Panthers utilized the middle more to switch the point of attack which caught the Eureka defense off guard. The Panther's last two goals were scored by Alicia Girbes-Pierce and Publicover to give the Panthers the 5-1 win. Strong performances were held by Cristina Post and Megan Carothers. Post had three assists and made great runs up and down the field connecting passes through the middle. Carothers did a great job playing in the middle and switching the point of attack.  The Panthers are now 7-0 in conference and have an overall record of 12-5.

The Panthers play away at Westminster this Tuesday at 5:00 PM.
