GREENVILLE, ILL. -- In a battle of the Panthers and the right to gain top billing in conference play, Greenville out-dueled Principia 1-0 to take a commanding lead in conference play. The game was back and forth between both sides with Greenville getting more dangerous looks in the offensive third, but
Samuel Thomas was on his game coming up with several key saves to thwart away Greenville's forays.
The teams were deadlocked throughout regulation play and the first overtime. In the second overtime, the Greenville Panthers' persistent attack down the left flank would pay dividends. A good interchange on the wing resulted in a cross that Principia defenders could not clear out of danger. The Greenville attacker did well to hammer home the generous rebound inside the six for the golden goal winner.
Principia now falls back to 4-5-1 and 2-1 in SLIAC with another conference matchup looming against Spalding Univeristy at home on Saturday during homecoming.
