Blue team wins!

Elsah, Ill. -- On Saturday (10-30-10), the swim and dive team teamed up to duel it out in the Blue & Gold Intra-squad meet. The swim and dive team was split up into team Blue and Gold and the result of the competition was that the Blue team came out on top by four points, 107 to 103.
The first event, 200 Medley Relay, was exciting as the Gold's A relay lead the event with a time of 2:05.19 swam by Tyler Loechner (SO), Andy Furbush (SO), Kirsty Edwards (FR), and Laura Perry (SO). The Blue's A relay team, Brent Bennett (FR), Casey Towle (FR), Mak Thompson (SO), and Joanna Patzwald (FR) were close behind, missing the win by about 1 second with a time of 2:06.12. Loechner of Gold team jumped right back in after the relay and took first in the 200 Free with a time 2:01.99. Also of Gold team, Chip Jackson, who was not far behind with a time of 2:06.44. Both on Blue team, Will Crowley (SR) and Towle got 1st and 2nd in the 50 free with Towle getting a season best, 27.41. Furbush, with a time of 2:13.50, won 1st place for the Gold team in the 200 IM. Furbush also got 1st place when he went 57.59 in the 100 fly. Crowley took 1st place for the Blue team in the 100 Free with a great time of 52.16. The 2nd place of the 100 Free was won by Jackson of Gold team with a time of 56.16. Loechner, also on the Gold team, finished with a great time for his 100 Back, 58.49, getting him 1st place. For the Blue team, Crowley took 1st again in the 500 Free with a time of 5:39.57. Bennett got 2nd for the Blue team in the 100 breast with a time of 1:20.83. Nick Trapp (SR), the diver of the Gold team, jumped in for the last relay and helped Loechner, Jackson, and Furbush win 1st and get the time of 1:46.50.
Both teams did great. Everyone is off to a great start after two meets. Their times on Saturday expressed that they all will accomplish great times and break more records this season. I look forward to seeing it.

Next weekend there will be no meet, we must have scared our competitors. On Saturday, November 13 at 1:00 pm, we will have a swim and dive meet against Lincoln College. Come down and support us in Crafton.
