The Lady Panthers started tonight's game by completing a strong first play off the tip with an assist from
Sarah Corbitt to Dani Corbitt for the quick two. The Lady Panthers scored again a few minutes later with a nice bucket from sophomore
Lindsay Sydness, followed shortly after by a shot by
Sarah Corbitt. The Panthers did not score again until around the thirteen-minute mark, when freshman
Shannon Briggs subbed in and hit a sweet jumper from the right wing. After that, Principia went scoreless for 11 straight possessions. Plagued by Webster's 1-2-2 press, the Panthers committed 16 turnovers in the first half alone, preventing them from generating any solid offensive flow. The Lady Panthers entered the locker room at halftime down 42-23.
While the 2nd half showed improvement in the turnover column (5 turnovers less than the previous half), the Lady Panthers were never really able to gain a foothold offensively. They began the half with a nice bucket from
Lindsay Sydness, who then followed that up with a 3-point play just a few minutes later. Unfortunately, made baskets were few and far between for the Lady Panthers, shooting just 6-26 in the second half of regulation. Principia did begin to break the pesky Webster press with authority in the end though, with some great looks inside by senior Lyndsay Eaton into Sydness. The Lady Panthers also began to implement the driving game in the 2nd half, with several strong drives by both
Sarah Corbitt and junior Emily Wheeler. However, despite taking several trips to the free throw line, Principia was unable to convert, going just 8-19 from the charity stripe. The Lady Panthers played hard, but ended in regulation with a score of 75-41. Principia plays next on February 19th against Fontbonne University at 1 pm.
