Season Ends for Lady Panthers vs. Westminster; 61-78

The Lady Panthers played their final game of the season tonight, travelling out to Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. After going down 11-0 at the start of the game, Principia broke the drought with a nice bucket from sophomore Lindsay Sydness at the fifteen minute mark. Two possessions later, freshman Dani Carney came down and hit a sweet 3-pointer from the corner to put the score at 11-5. However, despite putting together some nice plays, the Lady Panthers struggled from the field, hitting just 8 shots in the first half. Principia did shoot well from the line, hitting 5 of 7 free throw attempts. At the end of the first half, Principia entered the locker room down 22-40, with 9 turnovers and a field goal percentage of 29%.
At halftime, the Lady Panthers decided to make a change. Coming out with a new-found intensity, Principia was led by senior Dani Corbitt, who played stellar defense and grabbed three key offensive boards. She also hit the first bucket of the second half, soon to be followed by a quick four points from her sister, freshman Sarah Corbitt. Ultimately, the Lady Panthers improved their play across the board, shooting 44% from the field, 46% from beyond the arc, and going 73% from the charity stripe. In the end, the extra intensity was not quite enough for Principia to be on top, ending the game with a score of 61-78. Noteworthy performances for this evening's games came from Lindsay Sydness who contributed 7 boards, 15 points, 3 steals, and 3 blocks, bringing her final total to 112 blocks on the season. Hitting two three-pointers in late in the second half, junior Dani Corbitt put up 14 points and 4 boards. Freshman Shannon Briggs hit two three-pointers as apart her 8 points total and two steals for the game. Emily Wheeler# hit a couple nice inside jumpers off the drive, finishing with 8 points and four rebounds. On behalf of the players and coaches, we would like to extend our deep appreciation for unconditional support from friends, family, and the Principia community all season long.
