Thomas and Ball get it done in 5-3 victory

The Panthers beat MacMurray College on the road 5-3.

The win puts the team in solid position in fourth place in the conference with 9 conference games remaining.  The Principia College Baseball team has never been in the SLIAC playoff hunt this late in the season.

Sophomore workhorse Samuel Thomas picked up his 7th victory of the year, which ties the single season record for a Panther pitcher.  Samuel went 6 solid innings, allowing 3 runs overall and 2 earned runs.  Sophomore Greg Ball came out of the bullpen to start the 8th inning with the Panthers ahead by only one run.  Greg mowed through the opposition during his two innings and picked up his first save of the season.

Offensively, Samuel Thomas swung a hot bat, going 4-5 with 2 big RBI.  Alan Cheatham went 3-4 with 2 RBI as well.

The Panthers play conference powerhouse Webster University for a three game series beginning on Friday.
