Men’s Soccer Powers past Spalding 5-0

Principia men's soccer team got their second conference win beating Spalding University 5-0 in Louisville, KY in an early morning kickoff.  The win marks the gold and blue's first back to back victories of the season.

A brace by both Nate Waters and Dubien Tshiamanga  would help Principia put the match out of reach late in the first half. Waters opened the scoring with a well placed shot from 20 yards out for the game winner in the 40th minute to open up the flood gates.  This effort was quickly followed up by  Tshiamanga's 42nd minute strike just inside the box.  Waters rounded off the half with a 43rd minute strike after  pouncing on a spilled ball  that went off the back of Alan Cheatham following a service in the box by Patrick Harber.

The second half was much of the same as a determined Principia side continued to play.  Tshiamanga would round off the play in the 70th minute with a beautiful finish following Maguire Semnacher's inviting service across the face of the goal.

Principia wrapped up the scoring in the 85th minute when Christian Thomas's cross was spilled by the eagles custodian with Gustavo Batista alert enough to pounce and tidy up the mess for the final score of the day while notching his first goal of the season.

Principia's defense did not allow the eagles any shots on goal and held Spalding to only one shot on the day.  Samuel Thomas and Brian Simpson shared the shutout in goal for the teams 4th shutout of the season.  Principia now head home for another enticing homecoming matchup against Blackburn College on Saturday afternoon.
