Box Score 2 Principia found the going tough against perennial SLIAC foe Blackburn in a hotly contested Homecoming weekend affair on Saturday afternoon in Elsah, IL.
The Beavers struck first in the 16
th minute when they converted on a harmless service in the box that was mishandled by
Samuel Thomas in goal for the lead.
Despite the gaffe, there was plenty of confidence amongst the faithful that order would be restored for the blue and gold. However, just when it seemed as though Principia had it all sorted out, the beavers converted their second goal in the 35
th minute following a good service in the box that the striker did well to force to the back of the net.
Principia put on a ferocious fight in the second half squandering numerous chances and forcing the beaver custodian to make several outstanding goal- line saves to preserve the win. Principia is now 2-2 in conference play and travel to Jacksonville on Thursday to face Macmurray College.
