Fenton, MO-- The Principia women's soccer team extended their winning streak to seven as they pushed passed Webster University in conference play. The first goal came from some well timed passing with several Principia players linking up before
Rachel Publicover blasted the ball into the goal off a pass from
Cristina Post.
Alicia Girbes-Pierce had the game winning goal on a great run where she dribbled two defenders, “nut-megging” one, and then slotting the ball underneath the outstretched Webster goalie.
The second half was less exciting for Principia who were unable to convert another goal despite having 12 more shots at goal (Principia had 25 total shots in the game). Webster only got off 6 shots in the game. One of them was a penalty kick in the 80
th minute which they converted to give them their only goal for the game. The goal put an end to Principia's six game shutout streak where they went a total 620 minutes without being scored on.
The “golden boot” was awarded to Publicover and the “Lunch Pail” award was given to
Carlie Sanderude.
This week the women play Greenville at home on Tuesday for their second to last regular season conference match up. Principia will play their final regular season game against Fontboone at home on Saturday.
