Alan Cheatham's 24th minute go ahead header proved to be the game winner in a tame affair against Eureka College in a battle of SLIAC basement dwellers on Saturday afternoon. Cheatham's header came off a good service in the box from
Abi Carper.
Paul Sanderude's 12th minute piledriver from 25 yards was the signature opener Principia has been lacking all season. Principia hoped that the lead which came off a Cheatham assist, was just the beginning of good tidings for the rest of the afternoon but the red devils had other ideas quickly responding three minutes later with a strike of their own from a corner kick to level the score.
Cheathams game winner was a good response by Principia but only set up a harrowing finish in the second half that included a 82nd minute penalty kick called by the assistant referee on a breakaway tackle in the box on
Patrick Harber. The subsequent kick by the red devil's would however sail over the crossbar. Principia now travel to Spalding University in Louisville, KY on Tuesday morning in a 10 am encounter. The game will be played at Sacred Heart Academy.
