Eureka, ILL- The Principia Women's Soccer Team beat the Eureka Devils 8-0. This is the second game of the season that Principia has won by eight goals. This time, the goals were scored by five different Principia players.
Rachel Publicover was the high scorer earning her second hat trick of the season. Other strong performances were by
Cristina Post who had a goal and two assists and
Nadine Marczi who had three assists including the game winning assist to
Kristen Crandall to open up the scoring. Other notable players are
Carlie Sanderude who had a goal and an assist;
Alicia Girbes-Pierce who had two assists; and
Kenzie Keller and
Hayley MacWilliams who both scored off of twenty yard blasts.
Torie DeNicholas picked up the shutout.
Two Freshman earned the team awards for today's game. The “Lunch Pail” was given to Keller for her strong and gritty runs in and around the box. The “Golden Boot” was awarded to Marczi for her offensive prioress.
Principia turns around and travels to Louisville to play Spalding on Tuesday at 12:00 noon. The game will be played at the Sacred Heart Academy.
