Box Score ELSAH, ILL.-- The Principia men's basketball team played host to Grinnell College on Saturday afternoon and lost a hard fought contest 145-97. Grinnell, known for their unique style of play, added a little twist to their attack. All night long they focused on getting shots for their star player Griffen Lentsch. Lentsch was able to get off a game high 55 shots, scoring 15 three point attempts and 12 two point attempts. Along with his 20 freethrows, he ended the evening with a total of 89 points. For comparison, Principia AS A TEAM, was able to generate 60 shots for the entire game, connecting on 32. Principia battled all night long against the Grinnell press and transition game, as Grinnell attacked with a rotation of 18 players against the undermanned Principia team of 7. Principia finished the evening with five players in double figures, led by
Justin MacDonald with 25 and
Kenny Sydness with 23. Freethrow shooting plagued Principia during the contest as they missed 20, including 6 fronts of 1 and 1's. Although the score of the game at halftime was Grinnell 75 - Principia 49, Grinnell was able to maintained their relentless pressure during the second half to stretch the lead to the final margin of 48 points. Principia will next travel to William Woods University for a Monday night contest at Anderson Arena in Fulton, Mo. Tip-off is 8:00 pm 11/21/11.
