Panthers play sloppy baseball in first loss of 2011 season

JACKSONVILLE, ILL. -- Principia lost its first game of the season to Illinois College on the road by a score of 10-1. The game was much closer than that in the early going. Junior ace Greg Ball went 4 innings giving up 2 runs (1 earned run).  Luke Ball then pitched solid innings, but poor defense and mental lapses cost the Panthers the game.

The offense could not get anything going all game long. In the first five innings, the Panther offense had runners in scoring position every inning but could only muster one run. The team stranded 14 baserunners and left the bases loaded twice.

All in all it was not Principia College Baseball today.

The team looks to rebound tomorrow against St. Louis Christian at home at 6:00 p.m.
