Panthers squeak out 6-3 victory on the road against MacMurray College

JACKSONVILLE, ILL. -- The Principia Baseball Team won its sixth straight game tonight 6-3. The win was overshadowed by a lackluster performance by many of the team's top starters. After jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the early going, the team sat back and watched as MacMurray nearly pulled off a come from behind victory late in the game.

Freshman Luke Ball was the star for the Panthers. Luke pitched 7+ strong innings and left the game leading 6-1. Junior Robbie Nickell didn't have his usual pinpoint accuracy, but he battled and picked up his second consecutive save.

On offense, Alan Cheatham continues to swing a hot bat. He nearly hit his third homerun, which ended up being a rocket double off the top rung of the leftfield fence.

The team plays again tomorrow night at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill. against Webster University at 7:00 p.m.
