Softball wins non-conference match-up vs MacMurray
Principia College Athletics
ELSAH, ILL. -- Today's game was a non-conference game which Principia won 6-5. It was a makeup from the rained out SLIAC round robin two weeks ago.
There weren't any secrets left between the two teams since they had just played a conference double header two days ago.
Casey Lee got the start on the mound and threw a very solid game. The challenge was her offense only gave her one run in the third and then sat on it. MacMurray kept hanging around and finally broke through with a four run sixth inning. That finally woke up the Lady Panthers and lit their fire. They answered with three runs to tie the score but then made it interesting by allowing MacMurray to score one run in the top of the seventh.
Andie Raffles led off the inning battling her way to a walk.
Alicia Girbes-Pierce didn't wait around, lining the first pitch she saw to left center field for a double moving Andie to third.
Marina Whitney didn't waste any time either driving the first pitch she saw to left center scoring both Andie and Alicia to seal the win.
Raffles just continues to produce at the leadoff spot going one for two with two walks, two runs scored and another steal. Andie is 10 for 10 on steal attempts this season.
Alicia Girbes-Pierce went one for third with a sacrifice and scored the game winning run. Marina Whitey had a big day going three for four, scoring one run, stole a base and had the two game winning RBI's.
Casey Lee helped her cause by going one for three scoring a run, stealing a base and driving in a run.
Karlin Krishnaswami went one for two with an RBI and
Devon Harrison was one for two with a sacrifice bunt.
