Box Score CARLINVILLE, ILL. -- The women's soccer team traveled to Carlinville, IL and played Blackburn College today. Despite the wind and bumpy terrain, the Panthers were able to find the back of the net and win 4-0. The team moved the ball around well and exposed the open space in Blackburn's defense. The Panthers created and didn't capitalize on many scoring opportunities until
Carlie Sanderude headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner kick taken by
Rachel Publicover. Then Publicover hit the inside of the left post for the second goal, from an assist by Sanderude. The third goal of the half was scored by
Hayley Cooke hitting the cross bar and bouncing into the goal. The Panthers were only able to score one goal in the second half which again hit the cross bar and bounced in. Despite their lack of scoring, they moved the ball well, switching the field, and creating combos.
The Panthers play again Friday night against Spalding University, it will be senior night so come support our seniors!
