When it rains, it pours as Iowa Wesleyan blank Men's soccer 2-0

Box Score ELSAH, ILL. - An early 7th minute goal by Iowa Wesleyan proved to be the decider as the Tigers held on before sealing the deal with an 83rd minute counter attack header to seal the Panther's fate on the night.  The game was started 30 minutes ahead of schedule in an attempt to stay ahead of the monsoon like weather pattern sweeping through the area.  The first half was played for nearly 30 minutes in driving rainstorm.  The Panthers were a persistent bunch on the night and were unfortunate not to get the right bounce as they created numerous scoring opportunities in the first half but the final touch always went begging. Despite the heavy rainfall, the Panthers continue their arid goal scoring drought.  McGuire Semnacher's finish just before the game was halted was called back as he was deemed to be in an offside position.   The match had to be halted with the Tigers leading just 13 minutes into the second half due to thunder and lightning.  After a 45 minute wait, both teams came back on the pitch and Principia went hunting for the equalizer.  Nate Waters's effort found the back of the net but was also ruled to be in an offside position.  On the day the Panthers had a couple of breakaway chances, one by Dubien Tshimanga who instead laid an inviting cross to the onrushing Richard Bonsi but his approach was not in synch and he failed to provide the final touch.  Semnacher also found himself through following a great find by Evan Sperr but his attempt hit the keeper and ricocheted off his head before streaking wide of the open net.  It simply was not meant to be on this night as the Panthers now drop to 4-14-1 on the season and welcome conference foe, Spalding University to close out what has been a trying season.
