Box Score 3 Principia volleyball traveled to Eureka to take on the Red Devils and MacMurray. Eureka came out hitting well, and Principia struggled with too many serve receive errors – the perfect storm for Eureka to snatch game one. Game two was tied too many times – 8-8, 13-13, 20-20, 23-23, but Prin stayed with it until the end beating Eureka 26-24 in game two. Prin tightened up with tough serving from
Savanna Sprague,
Molly Moser,
Christine Nacewicz,
Summer Switzer, and
Kiersten Andersen, as well as a stronger offense push and some timely blocking that led to Prin controlling games three and four 25-10, 25-12 to win the match and the season sweep.
Prin worked to keep their momentum as they took the court against MacMurray. More aggressive serving set the stage for controlling this match, and Prin's offense found some success as well.
Kiersten Andersen led the way with 14 kills and only one error, and
Tess Rountree added 11 kills with only one error. Defensively Tess had four solo blocks and a block assist, while
Summer Switzer picked up nine digs in this season sweep over MacMurray.
Prin finished their Midwest loop with a match against Spalding, and earned the season sweep with a three game victory. This was another competitive opportunity for Prin to start strong and stay consistent. It wasn't quite that easy – Prin was down 3-8 in game one and 4-8 in game three, but the team stayed very poised and climbed out of the deficit to win in three straight games.
Tess Rountree led the offense with 15 kills and only one error, and the rest of the offense was by committee, with five hitters contributing to the cause. It was a well rounded night defensively as well with every back row player tallying at least eight digs, and
Summer Switzer leading with 17.
