Solid pitching and clutch hitting lead Principia past Westminster 8-5 in 11 innings

Box Score FULTON, MO.-- The Gold and Blue stuck for 4 runs in the 11th inning and completed the come from behind victory 8-5. Greg Ball lead off the 11th with a long double, Christian Thomas advanced the runner to third and Spencer Clevenger lined a ball through the drawn in infield to put the Panthers up.  Alan Cheatham beat out an infield single and then Kit Banko took a 3-2 pitch and deposited it over the left field wall for a three run shot. Freshman Gavin Thomas picked up the victory pitching in relief for three innings and pitched out of a couple of jams in the 9th and 10th innings. The Panther's also saw a strong pitching performance from sophomore Luke Ball who threw 8 innings, alllowing only 5 hits, 4 runs (2 earned) while striking out 4 batters.

The Panther's fell behind earlier 3-0 in the third inning, but were able to chip away and score two runs in the 6th on a single by Gavin Thomas.  Westminster added a run in the 7th inning to bring the score 4-2. In the 8th inning the Panther's got a clutch two out, two run double from senior Steve Harmon to tie the game.

It was a total team victory as the Panthers got clutch hitting and solid pitching. The Panthers got 14 hits on the day and were lead by Spencer Clevenger and Alan Cheathman with three hits, Kit BankoGavin Thomas, Robbie Nickell, and Stevie Harmon with two hits. Greg Ball also chipped in with a double. The Panthers are back in action on Friday as they travel to Eureka for a weekend series.
