Box Score EUREKA, ILL.-- On a cold and windy day the Principia Panthers dropped the opening game 6-3. The Panthers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, but Eureka scored two runs in the top of the 3rd to take the lead and was in control the rest of the game. The Red Devils scored four more runs in the 5th to take a 6-1 lead. The Panthers rallied for two runs in the 7th inning, but were unable to put anything together in the 8th and 9th innings.
Nate Gotch got the start for the Panthers going 5 innings, allowing 6 hits, 6 runs and 4 earned runs.
Jake Elmore pitched solid in relief going 3 scoreless innings. Offensively the Panthers could only muster 6 hits and left 8 runners on base. The Panthers and Red Devils square off tomorrow starting at 12pm at Henry Sand Field in Eureka.
