Panthers salvage game three, defeat Eureka 6-2; drop game two 9-0

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 EUREKA, ILL. -- After getting dominated in game two by the Red Devils 9-0 the Panthers shook off their lackluster performance and salvaged game three of the series winning 6-2. Luke Ball was dominant pitching 8 innings, allowing only two runs, and striking out 5 batters, earning his second victory on the year. Luke pitched out of a couple of jams in both the 6th and 7th, limiting the damage to only two runs. The Panthers took an early lead scoring one run in the 2nd inning on a solo blast off the bat of Kit Banko  and added another run in the 4th inning. Alan Cheatham lead off the inning with a double and Gavin Thomas drove him in with a solid line drive to right field. In the 6th inning the Panthers struck again for two runs on an error and then Greg Ball drove in the second run of the inning with a single to left field. Eureka answered with a two run shot of the bat of Blake McConkey. The Panthers added two insurance runs in the 8th inning. Justin MacDonald leadoff the inning with a single and scored on a double off the bat of Alan Cheatham. Gavin Thomas followed with an RBI single to right field. Gavin Thomas then relieved Luke Ball in the 9th inning and after walking and hitting the first two batters struck out the next two bats and then got the final out on a fly ball to left field.

In game two the Panthers played an uninspired game losing 9-0 with 7 of the runs unearned. Errors and mental lapses played the Panthers as they were dominated by Blake McConkey who threw a one hitter. The only hit came off the bat of Alan Cheatham in the bottom of the 9th inning to break up the no hitter bid.
