Men's soccer falls 2-1 to Rose_Hulman in 2 OT's

Box Score Terre Haute, IN-The Principia men's soccer team dropped its 8th game of the season to Rose-Hulman 2-1 in overtime on Saturday afternoon in Terre Haute Indiana.  This was as disappointing a loss as the previous overtime loss this season as the Panthers failed to hold on to 1-0 halftime lead.  In an early sea-saw battle the Panthers did well to have decent spells of possession throughout the first half despite the hosts resilience.  The game went back and forth early as both teams fought for equal share of the ball.  Eventually the panthers would break the deadlock in the 32nd minute.  Tshiamanga Dubien took on two defenders on the left flank and somehow managed to squeeze space in on the end line before firing a near post shot that left the goalkeeper puzzled.

The panthers however would not hold on to the lead much longer as the second half began.  Some lackadisical play through the middle allowed the engineers to slice through the panther defence before a service in the box fell to an open engineer strikers feet.  He made no mistake capitalizing on the error.  The rest of the half's play was dominated by the engineers as the panthers retreated and held on in regulation with the score tied.  In the first overtime neither team created real chances, as play was inconsistent on both sides.  In the second overtime, the engineers would seal the deal with a well-placed cornerkick, which the panthers were late to react to, but an engineer player did well to direct into the net from close range.  The panthers now get ready to open conference play as they get into the second and most crucial segment of their season as they welcome Eureka College at home next Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
