Box Score The Principia men's soccer team suffered their third loss at the hands of another CCIW opponent when they succumbed to Millikin's wonder strike in overtime. The game was a tale of momentum shifts with Millikin doing well to disrupt the Panthers rhythm early. As both teams settled down neither team took the initiative to put its stamp on the proceedings.
An error in the 25
rd minute of play cost the Panthers as
Leif Carlson's pass attempt to fellow center back
John Gotwals was picked off by the speedy Millikin striker who made no mistake breaking for goal and giving the big blue the lead. The rest of the half went wayward with the Panthers not capitalizing on several half chance opportunities.
The second half saw a much different panther side come out looking to strike back but the opportunities they created failed to materialize into much of anything. With the Panthers pressing however, it was only a matter of time before they restored order.
McGuire Semnacher did well to create room on the right flank before bending a 20 yard curler to the upper left corner of the net to send the game into overtime for his first goal of the campaign.
In overtime the panthers did well to keep the ball but failed when it counted most by giving an advancing big blue striker space at the top of the box. His onetime hit to the left side of the goal found nothing but net for a much deserved win for Millikin. The Panthers are now 0-3 and travel Friday to face Hiram College and Oberlin College in Ohio.
