Box Score ST. LOUIS, MO. -- The Principia College Panthers traveled to Fontbonne University on Thursday night for a SLIAC conference match-up. The Griffins used a variety of attacks to break the game open at the seven minute mark of the first half. The two teams had played even to that point and the score was 21 all when Fontbonne's press caused four consecutive turn-overs and they jumped to a 10 point lead. Principia was able to right the ship but by halftime the Griffins had a 20 point lead. The second half was a fairly even contest with Fontbonne outscoring the Panthers 44-36 for a final victory margin of 94-66. Fontbonne had 12 players on the scoreboard while Principia, playing with just 6 players, were led by
Damon Wilgus with 27 points and
Kenny Sydness with 21 points. Once again the Panthers were plagued by poor free throw shooting, making just 13 out of 27. Principia will next play at home against Westminster College on Saturday afternoon at 3:00. Come cheer on the cats!
