Box Score ELSAH, ILL. -- Saturday afternoon, the Principia Panthers fell to the Blackburn Beavers by the score of 50-53. It was a close and hard fought contest throughout with the lead changing hands several times and neither team able to obtain more than a single digit lead. With 31 seconds left a flagrant foul was called on number 34, Joe Gesner, while Principia was down 2 points. The Panthers were awarded two free throws and the ball but were only able to come away with one point. Principia had its last chance to score the tying basket with 3.4 seconds left but were unable to hit the 3 point shot taken from the top of the key.
Kenny Sydness led the Panthers in scoring with 23 points, followed by
Matt Jones,11, and
Stanley Beal, with 10. Principia will now travel to Louisville, Ky. to play Spalding University on Tuesday night, 1/8/2013, at 8:00 Eastern time.
