Long Night in Louisville

Box Score LOUISVILLE, KY. -- After traveling across Illinois, Indiana, and into Kentucky, the Principia Panthers tipped off against the Golden Eagles of Spalding University. The result was a one sided affair with the Eagles easily defeating the Panthers by the score of 103 to 45.

The powerful Spalding team overwhelmed the much smaller Panthers with their size, speed, and experience. The score at half time was already 54-22 in favor of the eagles and the second half brought more of the same.  The Eagles had 5 players in double figures, led by freshman Brandon Goeing's 19 points. Spalding as a team shot 43 for 65 from the field and were never threatened by a Principia team shooting 36% from the field. Kenny Sydness led the Panthers in scoring with 13 points and Stanley Beal had another fine game with 7 rebounds and 9 points. Spalding presently leads the SLIAC conference and were picked during the preseason to finish at number one. So far the preseason prediction seems pretty accurate.

Principia will next play Fontbonne University on Thursday night in St, Louis. The game begins at 8:00 CST.
