Box Score It was a match of ups and downs – for both teams. The Panthers were quickly at a 5-13 deficit in game one before they found a bit of momentum to pull them within striking range at 18-22. It was too little, too late and Webster took game one. Game two was all Prin as they pulled to a 11-4 lead against Webster, but then momentum switched back to Webster and the Gorlocks came within 13-12 of the Panthers. The Panthers pulled ahead again and kept the lead to secure a solid 25-20 game two win. Game three was tied 8-8 before Webster pulled to a 19-10 lead. But, you guessed it, the Panthers didn't quit – they fought their way back to 15-19. The Panthers held on for dear life, siding out six times at match point before losing the game. Game four was even-steven until Webster pulled to a 12-9 lead, and then the Panthers clawed their way back into contention at 19-19, then 23-23. Once again the story played out the way the Gorlocks wanted with Webster grabbing the last two points to win the match and hold their #2 position on the SLIAC leader board.
The Panthers were led by
Tess Rountree with 26 kills hitting .363 for the evening, and
Christine Nacewicz who put down 11 kills with only 1 error, hitting .313. Tess added three solo blocks and Christine had two. The team hitting percentage was a so-so .186. The Panthers kept their hitting errors to an "at season average" 9% for the evening, so that was fine. The team just had a hard time terminating the ball against Webster's block.
Christine Nacewicz,
Sierra Sprague,
Tess Rountree, and
Molly Moser were all members of the 100% serving club tonight, and Tess added four service aces. The team served a sweet 96% as a group.
