Box Score
Elsah, IL. Today the Principia Panthers hosted the Blackburn Beavers for their Homecoming game and won 5-0. The first half started out slow offensively. Senior Hayley MacWilliams put Principia on the score board with their only goal in the 18th minute of play. The Panthers were connecting passes, and earning goal scoring opportunities, but were too predictable for want of speed in the attack. Second half the Panthers came out with more movement off the ball, one and two touch passes around the Beaver defenders, and much more speed on the dribble. Individual efforts, sophomore Justine Roy did a great job on the left side of the field taking the ball with pace at defenders and distributing the ball. Left back, sophomore Kathryn Croney performed well winning 50/50 balls in the air. In the middle senior Carlie Sanderude played with her usual intensity and finesse controlling the flow and speed of the game.
Principians who scored in the second half were junior Kenzie Keller in the 61st minute, senior Hayley Cooke in the 68th minute, Sanderude in the 77th minute, and MacWilliams again in the 84th minute. MacWilliams received the Golden Boot team award for her game winning goal, plus one, and Justine Roy received the Lunch Pail team award for her consistency in the back and drive in the attack.
The Panthers will host Fontbonne University next Tuesday 10/22 at 8pm under the lights.
