4-0 win against Fontbonne University helps women's soccer in conference rankings

Box Score ELSAH, ILL. -- Four goals in the second half give Panther Women's Soccer an important conference win. After a scoreless 1st half, Kenzie Keller opened up the scoring in the 59th minute with a back post header from a Hayley Cooke cross. Keller attempted again to score off a breakaway in the 72nd minute. Her initial shot was blocked, but she collected the rebound and made no mistake tucking the ball into the net. The third and forth goals were scored by sophomore Gabriela Martin. Martin's goal in the 78th minute was assisted by fellow sophomore Georgia Mae Hurley. Her final goal in the 83rd minute was the result of Martin's hard work and quick feet that bypassed defenders and slotted the ball past the keeper.

Coach Semnacher said that the game was, "a great team win…We have been working a lot on focusing on each moment and not getting distracted by things we don't have control over... I am happy that the team really has found a good rhythm". There were several strong performers in the game tonight.  Hayley Cooke was very dynamic and active on the flank. Senior Carlie Sanderude owned the middle of the field, winning balls and helping the Panthers keep possession. Freshman defensive standout Rachel Perea thwarted numerous Fontbonne attacks with her athleticism and defensive vision. Senior Hayley McWilliams was a strong contributor on offense and had several near misses. Murilla King is credited with her 7th shutout of the season.

This weekend Principia Women's Soccer travels to Eureka College to play a conference match at 3:00.
