The volleyball team competed against a tough St Louis College of Pharmacy team, and after battling it out for four long games, Principia came away with the win. Now that STLCOP offers NAIA scholarships, their volleyball team is deep and good. They did NOT make it easy to score. They were diligent on defense and powerful on offense. It took everything Prin could muster up to hang on, catch up, and then pull ahead for the "w".
Prin had to come from a consistent four point deficit in game two to win it 28-26. Prin needed to come from behind again in game three 15-17. After catching up, Prin turned up the heat as Tess and Jess pounded the ball from all over the court to gain a little ground. In the end Principia won game three 25-23.
It was not easy to terminate the ball tonight. As a team Prin killed 26% of the balls compared to their season average of 32%. However, Prin's error was much lower than their 11% average coming in at 4% for the night.
Tess Rountree led the offensive charge with 20 kills and Jess Bushong put down 14. Prin had five defenders in double digits, with
Tess Rountree leading the defense with 36 digs, Summer with 32,
Molly Moser 20,
Savanna Sprague 15, and
Sierra Sprague 10. There were three members of the 100% serve club tonight –
Deanna Scheck,
Sierra Sprague and
Savanna Sprague, and Christine Nacewiz and Christine led with three aces a piece, while Savanna posted two.
