The Principia Men's basketball team played their home opener on Tuesday night against St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Pharmacy's star forward, Gozie Uzendu was the difference maker, scoring 28 points and leading his team to a 74 - 63 victory over the hard fighting Panthers. STLCOP had a nice balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures. Principia, led by senior forward
Kenny Sydness with 21 points, could not find the same balance and ended with just two players in double figures.
Justin Ball the second leading scorer for Principia with 19 points also had a great night on the boards with 15 total rebounds. Principia started the game cold from the field and ended up shooting a dismal 29% for the game. Principia however shot an outstanding 22- 25 from the free-throw line for 88%, and was able to keep it close from the line.Principia's next contest will be at home next Tuesday night against NAIA DII opponent William Woods University. Tip-off will be in Hay at 8:00 pm.
