Women's Swimming and Diving Beats Lincoln 113-23

LINCOLN, ILL. -- The Principia College Women's Swimming and Diving team on Saturday traveled to Lincoln, ILL., and beat the Lincoln Lynx 113-23. By the time the meet was over, the team had collected seven season bests.

The meet started off with the 200 Medley Relay team of freshman Bailey Bischoff, freshman Shelby Barner, sophomore Dani Mc Kenzie, and senior captain Joanna Patzwald taking first place with a time of 2:04.93.

Barner then swam the 200 Free, as did senior Catherine Joyner. Barner swam a season best time of 2:20.03, which was good for second place, and Joyner took third with a season best time of 2:50.02. Bischoff took first place in the 200 IM with a season best time of 2:39.32, while freshman Meredith Brooks took second with a season best time of 2:50.48. Mc Kenzie then grabbed another first place for the Panthers in the 50 Free with a time of 26.72. Patzwald was close behind, touching the wall in 27.98 for second place.

On the 3-meter diving board, freshman Annika Erickson took first place with a season best score. Mc Kenzie then took another first place in the 100 Fly with a season best time of 1:06.03. Barner and Patzwald followed that up with a one-two finish in the 100 Free, with Barner leading the way in 59.99. Patzwald touched the wall in 1:04.60. Bischoff took second place in the 100 Back with a time of 1:12.95, and Brooks was close behind for third place (1:15.51).

Erickson earned another first place on the 1-meter board with a score of 131.40. Barner then finished up the individual events by taking home first place in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:24.13.

Brooks, Joyner, Bischoff, and Mc Kenzie capped the meet off with a first place time of 2:00.54 in the 200 Free Relay.

The team is now 1-0 on the season and will travel to Jacksonville, ILL., on Saturday, November 9, to take on Illinois College.
