Box Score 2 JACKSONVILLE, ILL -- The Prin volleyball women started day two of the IC tourney playing NAIA Culver Stockton. CS was big and powerful – kind of like Principia, but CS had superior ball control and serving today, and that was enough to give them a "too easy" victory over the Panthers. Prin struggled to find their rhythm at the service line, committing nine errors compared to CS's zero. With less than stellar ball control, Prin couldn't swing at the ball the way they like, and the 15% errors from our squad of hitters gave CS too much of a head start. Each set the Panthers gathered their focus and kept fighting to find their game. The last set of the match Principia made CS work hard and actually battle for the victory. It was a good match to light the fire of what we need to be improving on each and every day.
Tess Rountree was the match MVP with 21 kills (.318), 11 digs and 2 blocks.
Next Principia played MacMurray. Prin was without their setter, and had to put together a very creative lineup with new positions for many. The team did a great job of keeping it simple and having fun with it – turning chaos into order? Everyone got in on the action, and the bench was more than ready for the opportunity! There was great team support and the veterans set the stage for a good match!
Sierra Sprague had a breakout match with seven kills, three service aces, 15 digs, and a block.
Summer Switzer and
Lily Richards played some serious defense as well with 20 and 17 digs respectively. Tess also served up three aces.
Congratulations to
Tess Rountree for being named to the All Tournament team!
