Box Score The volleyball team traveled to Fulton, Mo to take on Westminster College. WC has established themselves as one of the toughest teams in SLIAC after losing very close matches to top ranked Greenville and Webster. Prin knew they had their work cut out for them tonight.
Prin struggled to crank up their offense in the first game, and Westminster took the lead 17-12. The Panthers clawed back into the game 21-21 behind the strong serving of
Molly Moser, but a couple of late Prin errors helped Westminster grab game one 25-22.
Game two started out a bit more balanced and the two teams were tied at 8-8, 17-17, 22-22. Westminster then put in a couple of tough serves to take the game 25-23. The Panther offense was waking up though, so the match was NOT out of hand. Three kills from
Tess Rountree and
Sierra Sprague, and four from
Savanna Sprague started to turn the tides.
Game three was tight, with Prin putting down 15 kills, and only committing 1 error out of 34 swings. Jess Bushong  and Tess got hot in game three,  and the defense became a bit more tenacious – the perfect  combination for a 25-20 Prin victory.
Game four was filled with Panther momentum. They showed good passing, soulful defense and a sharp and diverse offense, and the result was a lopsided 25-16 Prin win. Game five was a battle. Westminster was not going to give up a "w" without a fight. Tess put together a run of serves that helped  Prin get to 9-4, and then the team just kept their cool and stayed bold and smart to outlast Westminster 15-13.
Perfect serving from Savanna,
Molly Moser and
Deanna Scheck was a key element leading  in the Panther victory. Prin's defense kept gaining ground behind their strong serving, and then Prin was able to transition into their diverse offense to deliver their final blows.
Summer Switzer led with 3 aces, and Sierra, Savanna, Tess, and Molly each contributed 2 aces.
Molly Moser had some amazing defensive moments that inspired the team to dig in alongside her and refuse to give up any area of the court to the Bluejays.
The match was a lesson in refocusing and supporting each other in each moment. Prin volleyball is 9-5 and looks forward to the  chance to play bold against Greenville this Saturday at 11am in Elsah.
