Principia sweeps aside Blue Jays

Box Score Elsah, Ill. - This afternoon the Principia Panthers defeated the Westminster Blue Jays in their first conference game 5-0. Senior Hayley MacWilliams opened the flood gates in the 30th minute of the first half after a series tackles and hard work. Next to score was junior Kenzie Keller two minutes later, her first of the afternoon. The first half ended with Principia up 2-0.

After their half time talk the Panthers began to assert their dominion over the Blue Jays, connecting passes and breaking up plays. Four minutes into the half, senior Carlie Sanderude took a free kick 40 yards out sending the ball to the unmarked freshman Rachel Perea who made no mistake in putting the ball in the back of the net with her head. In the 62nd minute Sanderude got a deserved goal off a PK placing the ball in the left side netting. One minute after Sanderude's goal Keller finished it off with a breakaway earning her second goal of the game.

Team awards for the game: Junior Becca Denicholas – Lunch Pail. Junior Kenzie Keller – Golden Boot. Freshman Rachel Perea – Golden Head.

The Principia Panthers are excited to face the Washington University Bears at home this Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM.
