Principia volleyball goes 1-1 on day one of Knox tourney

Box Score 1 GALESBURG, ILL. -- Principia took on William Penn in the Knox College Prairie Fire tournament, and after battling for two hours came up short 20-25, 26-24, 25-27, 22-25. It was all about ball control, and both teams had a hard time finding consistency. The Prin women rebounded nicely after losing game one showing William Penn it  wasn't going to be easy to beat the Panther squad. There was a lot of hard hitting and great defensive efforts to keep the ball flying!

Tess Rountree led the offensive efforts putting down 22 kills and  also had five solo blocks. Christine Nacewicz, Sierra Sprague, Jess Bushong, and Lily Richard rounded out the match with six kills apiece. Summer Switzer played some soulful defense with 25 digs, and she also served up 7 aces!

Match two pitted Principia against Monmouth College, and Principia was in the driver's seat the whole match. Prin won in three straight sets.  It was another well rounded offensive outing, with Jess Bushong and Tess both killing 12 balls, and Nacewicz had a good match with 7 kills, and Lily and Sierra each contributing  four.  Tess also dug 22 balls and blocked two from Monmouth.

All in all it was a good day of working to find their stride, and having tough competition on the other side gave ample opportunities to figure things out!
