ELSAH, ILL. — The Principia College Women's Swimming and Diving team on Friday competed against Hendrix College. The meet included shortened versions of most races, including the 50s of each stroke and the 100 IM. The team lost 42-124.
In the 200 Medley Relay, the relay team of senior Catherine Joyner, senior co-captain Joanna Patzwald, freshman Shelby Barner, and freshman Bailey Bischoff took second with a time of 2:14.74. Bischoff's 50 Free relay split of 28.06 was her season best.
Sophomore Dani Mc Kenzie took second in the 200 Free with a time of 2:08.52, her lifetime best. Bischoff took third in the individual 50 Free with a time of 28.32. Bischoff would later lead off the 200 Free Relay with a time of 27.60, her season best.
The divers completed three dives each on the 1- and 3-meter diving boards. Freshman Annika Erickson took first with a combined 1- and 3-meter score of 184.20, while freshman Michala Braun took second with a score of 80.90. Both Erickson and Braun were challenged to attempt difficult dives at this meet.
Mc Kenzie picked up another second place in the 100 Free with a time of 57.93. Barner swam the 500 Free for the first time this season and took third with a time of 6:16.90. Patzwald — normally a mid-distance swimmer — tackled the 50 Breast in 35.90, her lifetime best in the event.
Bischoff, Patzwald, Barner, and Mc Kenzie teamed to win the 200 Free Relay to conclude the meet. Mc Kenzie's split of 26.14 was her lifetime best.
