Men's soccer unravels against Spalding in home finale 4-1

Box Score Elsah, ILL.-  Principia men's soccer bid farewell to their seniors on Thursday night in a hotly contested affair against a pesky Spalding University side in Elsah, IL.  Prior to the game, the Panthers honored nine seniors who have served dutifully over the last four years.  Matt Jones, Toby Raine, Ross Furbush, Gavin Thomas, Christian Thomas, Nate Waters, Leif Carlson and senior captains McGuire Semnacher and Gustavo Batista wrapped up their final home matches at Principia.  The celebrations prior to the game would later be subdued when the contest began as Principia conceded an early penalty in the game which the Eagles capitalized on to take the lead.  The Eagles would tag on another from a well taken strike outside the box to take a commanding 2-0 lead at the halfway mark. The second half held more promise for the Panthers following Nate Waters looping strike which turned out to be the consolation goal as the Eagles added two more goals to put the game out of reach.  Principia now travels on Saturday to Iowa to wrap up the season against Iowa Wesleyan at 3:00 pm.
