Principia men's basketball falls short against SLIAC-leading Webster University

Webster wins in overtime 77-72 at Principia

Box Score ELSAH, ILL. -- Webster University traveled to Principia College on Saturday afternoon for a conference match-up with the Panthers. This was the first meeting between the two teams this year and Webster seemed the stronger coming in. However, the Panthers jumped out to an 8 point half time lead to the delight of the home crowd. The score at halftime was Principia 33, Webster 25. In the second half Webster came out aggressively and as Principia began to tire, Webster captured the lead. With 5 minutes to go in regulation, Principia recaptured the lead and went up by 6. Principia lost two starters, Justin Ball and Joey Sander to fouls and Webster was able to tie the game at the end of regulation. Playing short-handed in the overtime period, Principia found Webster to be too much and the Gorloks pulled away to a 77-72 victory. Principia won the rebound battle 40-26, but Webster won the turnover battle 14-23. Parker Davidson, a freshman three guard for Principia had another double-double with 11 rebounds, 16 points, and 3 assists. This is the 4th time in the first 6 games that he has had this accomplishment and now is averaging a double-double for the season. Justin Ball had a nice game before fouling out with 7 rebounds and 18 points. Principia's outstanding senior point guard, Larry Patterson, led the Panther's floor game and ended with 3 rebounds, 12 points, 9 assists, 1 block, and a steal. Joey Sander had 7 rebounds before fouling out. Principia will next travel to Greenville College for another conference matchup on Saturday, December 13th. Tip-off will be 5:00 pm.
