Principia Basketball battles but comes up short against Spalding University

Box Score Louisville, Ky. - On Saturday afternoon the Principia Panthers traveled to Louisville, Ky. to play Spalding University. Spalding, a coed university of about 2000 students located in downtown Louisville, proved to be too much for the Panthers. Principia played well throughout the first half and were down by 3, 24 - 21 with under 8 minutes left. Then the superior depth of the Spalding team and the constant pressure they were able to bring, slowly allowed the Golden Eagles to stretch their lead to 22 at half. In the second half Principia once again battled hard and cut the lead to 16 at the 12 minute mark. However, Spalding's full court press eventually broke the game open allowing the Golden Eagles to pull away for a 92 - 55 victory. Larry Patterson and Kenny Sydness led the Panthers with 13 and 10 points respectively. Patterson also added 6 rebounds and 5 assists to his stat line. Principia will next host Webster University on Tuesday night at 8:00 pm.
