Panthers baseball fall to Highlanders 3-1

Box Score ELSAH, ILL. -- Senior Luke Ball got the start in game one and pitched a complete game in the loss. Luke pitched a strong game giving up five hits, three runs, and striking out four. It was a classic pitcher's duel as both teams were scoreless through three innings. MacMurray College struck for two runs in the 4th inning and added an insurance run in the 6th inning.

In the bottom of the 7th inning down 3-0 the Panthers rallied and had the winning run on second base, but the Highlanders' starter was able to end the threat with a strikeout. In that inning Connor Coyne reached on an error, Ed Bargmann doubled in Connor to break up the shutout. Christian Thomas walked and then both runners stole. With two outs and runs on 2nd and 3rd MacMurray was able to pitch out of the jam. The Panthers were only able to muster three hits, but played solid defense throughout the game.
