Webster Groves, Mo--

Principia women's tennis team completed conference competitions today beating Webster 8-1. The Panthers won all three doubles and did not lose a game at #3 doubles.  Going into singles play the team led 3-0. 
 
Justine Roy, #5 singles, was the first to win her match.  She closed out her opponent 6-1,6-0.  Shortly after that match ended #6 singles, Lena Carlson, won 6-1, 6-0.  Principia went onto win #2, #3 and #4 singles in straight sets giving up only a handful of games across those matches.
 
Five singles matches were completed in Principia's favor giving them the lead 8-0 before the first set was finished at #1 singles.  Carlie Sanderude was in a battle with Webster's #1 singles player and pulled ahead 6-5 staying on serve after being done 5-2.  Webster evened the match at 6-6 and played a flawless tie-breaker, winning the first set 7-6.  In the second set, Webster #1 singles made very few errors closed out the match for Webster. 
 
The team only has two matches before the conference championships on April 25, 26.  This Saturday they travel to Illinois Wesleyan.  The last home match for Principia women's tennis is next Thursday, April 17.  Come out and cheer for the team at Carlie's last home match.  See you there!
