Greenville College Rallies Past Panthers 10-7

Senior Scott Ross took the mound for the last time in his career pitching 6 innings, scattering 7 hits, allowed 8 runs, but only 2 were earned runs. Scott was in command through 5 innings as the Panthers jumped out to a 7-1 lead. Down 1-0 freshman Ed Bargmann hit his first career home run to tie the game at 1-1. The Panthers then scored 6 runs in the 4th inning capitalizing on 5 walks.

Greenville College would answer and take the lead in the top of the 6th. The Panthers committed one error in the inning and Greenville's bats got hot as they plated 7 runs on 6 hits before Scott could work out of the jam. It would prove to be all the runs Greenville College would need and they would add on runs in the eighth and ninth. Hunter Mehring pitched 3 innings in relief and did a solid job throwing strikes and keeping the Panthers within striking distance.

The Panthers fought hard but were unable to mount a comeback and Greenville won 10-7. Offensively the Panthers were led by Gavin Thomas who finished 2 for 4 with a double and Dallen Russell who finished 2 for 5 with a RBI. Ed Bargmann finished 1 for 4 with a homerun and two RBI's. Hunter Mehring and Bryce Murray also finished with one hit each.

The Panthers are back in action tomorrow Saturday May 3rd as they travel to Greenville College to play a double header starting at 1pm. It will be the last two games of the season as the Panthers celebrate the careers of its three seniors.
