Volleyball goes 1 and 1 for the day

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ROCK ISLAND, ILL. -- The Volleyball team traveled to Augustana to start the season against some tough teams. Host Auggie provided more than enough competition as they waltzed away with a 3-0 win against the Panthers. Auggie was a very solid, very consistent team, and they controlled the ball very well.

Tess Rountree and Sierra Sprague were the pillars of the Panther's offensive production, with 13 and six kills respectively. Sierra and Summer Switzer led the way on defense with 16 and 12 digs for the match. Freshman Cha Cha Fisher earned the start today and had a very solid showing as a hitter and blocker.

The second match of the night pitted Principia against  Knox college.  The Panthers played hard and had to stage a comeback or two to stay in control of the match. Everyone on the team got playing time, and Prin took Knox 3-1.

The offense was a bit more well rounded this match, with Tess leading with 21 kills, and Lily Richards contributing nine. Cha Cha put down five kills as well. The Panthers combined for 10 service aces, and Sierra, Summer, and Tess had two apiece. The Panthers kept at it defensively, with four digging in the double digits - Summer 18, Tess 16, Molly Moser 14 and Sierra Sprague 10.

Prin started to get their engine going in this match, but the team looks forward to finding their competitive rhythm tomorrow and cranking up the intensity as they take on Top 25 Cornell College and a tough Aurora.
