Box Score 1 JACKSONVILLE, ILL.-- The volleyball team got their money's worth today with both matches going long and demanding persistence, consistency and boldness from the Panthers. Prin dropped game one to IC 22-25 appearing very "off their game". That's what is great about volleyball – the NEXT game began and the women pulled it together and were in the driver's seat all the way to a 25—18 win. Game three was a bit more of a test as IC really worked to pick up Prin's hits and pounded a few more of their own kills. Prin kept making the adjustments and stuck with their game winning 25-20, and then it appeared IC had hung in as long as they could with Prin winning the fourth 25-15.
Tess Rountree put together another 35 kill outing hitting .366, with a nice supporting cast of
Molly Moser with 9 kills (.348), and
Sierra Sprague and
Lily Richards each adding seven.
Summer Switzer was the lone member of the 100% serving club, while
Emma Herman served up three aces, Tess added two, and Savanna and Sierra each had one. Five players dug in the double digits – Tess with 18, Summer 17, Sierra 15, Savanna 14, and Molly 13. Tess added three solo blocks as well.
In Prin's match against NAIA Missouri Valley, the team had high points and low points, but overall showed a soulful ability to keep playing the game – to keep solving problems, and to never back down. Prin actually came out of the gates strong and Missouri Valley wasn't really expecting us to give them much of a game. Those two things combined for a team .300 hitting game and a 25-19 win in game one that had MV chin's on the ground. MV continued to get stronger and worked hard to neutralize the Panther attack. Game two was a heartbreaker 24-26 defeat, and it was after Prin came from a 16-20 deficit to give it one more go. Game three was all MV with Prin's hitting percentage plummeting to -.025. The lady Panthers did not give up – they came back fighting harder than ever in game four and took the game 25-23 in a bold fashion. Prin scored the last three points exactly how they had practiced over the past week. Game five started out rocky with some serve receive trouble and Prin had trouble putting the ball on the ground – the rallies were long and both teams were working for the win well past regulation 15 points. In the end MV got the "w" with a 19-17 victory.
Tess put down 30 kills and Molly had another stellar offensive performance hitting .348 with 9 kills.
Tess Rountree posted 4 service aces and
Cha Cha Fisher had three. The Panthers had six in defensive double digits with Tess leading the way with 22 digs, Molly 20, Savanna and Summer each with 15 , Sierra with 13 and Cha Cha with 12.
