Panthers lose to Eureka College in underwhelming performance

Box Score

EUREKA, ILL. - Tonight the Principia College women's basketball team travelled to Eureka, IL to face conference opponent the Red Devils of Eureka College.  An unfocused and hesitant start to the game almost ensured the Panthers were done before they had begun, with Eureka taking an early lead which they never relinquished.  Principia was cold from the field, struggling to hit any shot but a lay-up, and as the half wound down, Eureka secured a 19-point lead.

The second half proved to be more of the same.  Despite a brief surge to start the half, Principia continued to struggle at both ends of the floor.  The lone bright spot for the Panthers was the play of forwards Kara Johnson and Karina Olsen, who battled on the boards and showed some defensive intensity.

The Panthers will take the next couple of days to refocus and prepare for their next game—a conference match-up against Iowa Wesleyan College.  The game will be at Principia on Saturday, January 17 at 1:00 p.m.
